Are you doing Deadlifts Properly?
Deadlifts are one of the best compound weightlifting movements you can do in the gym! They are a great way to build muscle, strength and also burn fat at the same time. However, if they are performed with the wrong technique, its quite likely you could injure yourself.
For those who are thinking of introducing Deadlifts in to there workout routine but aren’t sure on how they are performed correctly, here are a few pointers to help you perfect your Deadlift…
1) Plant your feet in to the floor, making sure that your toes can be seen on the other side of the bar. DON’T stand with your whole foot under the bar as this makes it more difficult to lift the bar up.
2) Keep your knees pointing out, grab the bar on the outside of your knees and keep your feet flat on the floor. DON’T grab the bar too narrow as this will force your knees to collapse in.
3) Stick your bum out allowing you to keep your hips tilted forwards which helps to keep your back straight. Keep your shoulders back and chest up. Bend from your knees.
4) Once the barbell has been lifted, finish standing up straight making sure that you keep your shoulders back and your chest up. keep your feet flat on the floor throughout the whole movement. Once in a sturdy up right position return bar slowly down to the floor keeping your back straight and bending from the knees.
