Schools out for Summer!
Every year I hear parents complain that once their kids break up for summer that their health and fitness goes out the window. You may not be able to dedicate as much time to the Gym however these simple tips should help your health and fitness survive the summer!
1. Be active: take your kids on activities where you can join them. Go walking, running, play sports with them. All of these are free to do and you and your kids can get a great workout from them.
2. Be careful with treats: the kids have had a long day running around, perhaps at a club of some sort and you want to treat them. This is fine. Everything in moderation, maybe they have deserved it. You may have been sitting down all day working from the computer, which don’t get me wrong is physically draining. However you wouldn’t of burnt as many calories as they have. So taking them to McDonalds on way the home and joining in on the treat probably isn’t the best of ideas.
3. Be prepared: prepare snacks for you and your kids. The days may be action packed so it’s a good idea to prepare some snacks so you don’t get starving and binge. Chopped vegetables, fruit, nuts are all great options.
The key is to be aware of what you are doing. Be as active as you can and involve your kids and try to involve them in eating healthy too. They will be much happier for it!
