It is very likely that most people in their lives have suffered with lower back pain. This can be due to an injury or weak core muscles. However the majority of the time it is due to office jobs, driving, sitting and watching the tv etc causing muscles around the back to tighten.
Having a flexible lower back will ensure that you don’t suffer from lower back pain and other posture problems. Increasing flexibility in your lower back will decrease the amount of weight and pressure that you vertebra has to endure, making your body more fit and healthy.
The human body can only withstand a certain amount of pressure on its joints and ligaments before getting injured. In today’s world, the number of people who suffer from, lower back pain is increasing steadily, as a sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise is making most of us unhealthy. A few simple stretches done daily will help you increase the flexibility of your lower back, and help prevent back pain and injury. A flexible body puts less amount of load on the joints and ligaments helping it maintain its health and fitness.
Below are some pictures of our favourite stretches to help improve lower back flexibility. The aim should be to feel a stretch, but don’t over do it! Aim to hold each stretch for 15-20 seconds.
